P.E. Class this week, March 24 to March

I would like to remind parents to send
your children dressed in an appropriate way for the days that they have P.E.
class:
-
No dresses for the girls
-
No jeans
-
No crocks
-
No sandals
-
No boots
Children
who are not wearing the appropriate clothing will not be allowed to participate
in P.E. class.
EARLY CHILDHOOD AND
ELEMENTARY READ-A-THON – This is week four of the Early Childhood and Elementary READ – A
– THON for grades K-5. Please remind your child(ren) to read as much as they
can, and to record their books in the Reading Log that was provided. Please
help us by encouraging your child to read at home every day!
ART- A -THON: as part of the AP Literature and Composition
class, Andrea Martinez and Victoria Glynn have organized an event called the
"Art-A-Thon" to promote the Chronicles of Discovery Literary and Art
Magazine. This coming Friday, March 28 they will have their third Art-A-Thon
during the high school lunch. The following people will be participating:

CAYOS COCHINOS COMMUNITY
SERVICE: As part of TES,
Trabajo Educativo Social, the 11th graders will be going to Cayos Cochinos the
5th – 9th of April to assist the community of Cayo Mayor. The Alfonso Lacayo
Public School is in need of school materials, so the Junior class has decided
to conduct a voluntary school supply drive. They would appreciate any and all
donations but wish to ask the following classes that each student contribute
with the following:
1st & 2nd grade – 2 sharpeners
3rd & 4th grade – 1 pack of 12 colored pencils
5th grade – 2 scissors
6th – 8th grade – 2 normal sized composition notebooks
9th grade – black, red, and blue pens (one of each)
10th grade – 1 pack of 12 pencils and 2 erasers
12th grade – 4 UHU sticks
CHOIR MEETING – There will be a Choir meeting on Monday,
March 31 at 3:15 p.m. in the school library. Important information will be
discussed in this meeting. At least one parent for each student who is going to
New York City must attend!
CONCERT - The Discovery School Music Department is
inviting you to a Piano and Singing Recital. Tickets available with Ms. Norma
and Ms. Pamela.
P.E.
CLASS THIS WEEK
The season is getting hotter! It is
recommended for children to wear sunblock and always have their water bottle
with them.
PRE-KINDER
We
are running obstacles races to develop coordination skills, and playing games
to improve gross motor skills.
*¡This last quarter, the students are
going to have the opportunity to learn about the soccer game!
KINDERGARTEN
We are working on different obstacles
races to improve coordination. We are also going to play different games with
the jump rope to develop gross motor.
FIRST GRADE
We are going to develop some pre-sport
activities such as passing the ball between partners in different ways.
SECOND GRADE
The students are going to learn how to
control the soccer ball, and some techniques to pass the ball to a partner.
THIRD GRADE
We are working on some pre-sports
activities to carry out a soccer game such as controlling the ball in different
routes.
FOURTH
GRADE
During this week we will continue
developing physical activities to improve endurance through games and
activities such as running and relays.
FIFTH GRADE
This week the fifth grades will be
working on different endurance skills, using different games such as Italian
relays.
